Mental Health to Support Surviving Guilt

When:  Jan 26, 2021 from 14:00 to 15:15 (ET)
“Family achievement guilt,” which describes the regret that FG students experience as a result of having more higher education opportunities than their family members according to student scholar Imani Burwell, is a factor that contributes to decreased persistence and graduation rates among first-generation (FG) college students.  Ms. Burwell, who completed her master’s seminar paper on the topic, and Dr. Green, a licensed psychologist, will discuss student experiences, the causes, impacts and how programs can make mental and emotional well-being more of a priority within current services.
