COVID-19 Research: Invite McNair Professionals and Students

When:  Mar 4, 2021 from 14:30 to 15:45 (ET)
Take Part in COVID-19 Research: Invite McNair Professionals and Students.  Access to higher education in the U.S. is crumbling in the midst of COVID-19, unmasking new and ongoing systemic inequities in opportunities and outcomes for low-income, first-generation, and students with disability. The Council for Opportunity in Education and its research arm, the Pell Institute for the Study of Opportunity in Higher Education, aim to document these students’ experiences in these pressing times using a “students as partners” approach. This approach is intended to increase low-income and first-generation students’ participation in conducting research to avoid what some have called “extractive research.” We intentionally designed this study in an equity-based manner to restore students’ voice as authors and owners of their own stories. Our goal is to engage TRIO stakeholders at various levels and to empower them to help rebuild the U.S. higher education system beyond COVID. If this project interest you or your students, please join our informational webinar on Thursday, March 4, 2021 to learn more about the scope and timeline of this COVID-19 research project.
