Graduate School Financing After Grad PLUS: What TRIO Programs and Students Need to Know

When:  Wed, Sep 30, 2026 from 15:00 to 16:15 (ET)
Leadership Brainery, a Boston-based nonprofit and one of the few organizations nationwide focused specifically on graduate school access, will present an overview of the new federal loan limits affecting graduate and professional education. The session will explain the elimination of Grad PLUS loans, new annual and lifetime borrowing limits, and the potential effects on students from low-income, first-generation, and under-resourced backgrounds. Participants will learn about free tools and resources that can help students compare graduate borrowing, debt, earnings, workforce demand, and financial support as they consider advanced degrees. The presenter, Josh Farris, is a TRIO alumnus and former Pell Institute intern who brings both professional expertise and personal experience with the role TRIO programs play in expanding educational opportunity.
